This project contains a known mafi c/ultramafi c layered igneous intrusion, of about 70km² in area, intruded into the Archaean Narryer Terrain. Extensive exploration has outlined several chromite seams but less exploration has specifi cally targeted nickel and PGEs. This layered igneous intrusion may contain ortho-magmatic mineralisation similar to a number of deposits in both Australia and overseas.
The best intercept in RAB drilling includes 4m at 13.5% Chromium, best in trenching 10m at 11.8%. A trench exposed 15m at 0.3%Ni, 0.3% Chromium, and 280ppm Co.
The feeder zones along the base of the body could also host nickel mineralisation analogous to Radio Hill in Australia or Voisey Bay in Canada. While an aeromagnetic survey has been flown, no other geophysical methods have been used.
Exploration Programme
An aerial EM survey will be flown over the body to complement the aeromagnetic data previously flown to further define the composition of the body. An IP survey will be carried out along the base of the body as well as any other part of the body which may be anomalous from the geophysical data at hand to outline possible feeder zone deposits.
Previous drilling and trenching will be located to assist with the geological mapping over the body. Again the weathered ground surface will probably not be favourable to defi ned geological mapping. All of the past exploration results together with the geophysics and geological mapping will determine the best drill targets on or about this body. These areas will be gridded for further ground geophysics and drilled to locate mineralisation and to determine the composition of the body.
Uranium Projects
Eagle Nickel has Exploration Licence Applications over three areas in the Kimberley Region, one in the Yilgarn and one in the Nabberu Basin which are prospective for uranium mineralisation. They target a number of mineralisation types and will be actively explored upon being granted.
While all of the project areas have radiometric anomalies, little exploration for uranium has previously taken place.
